She Is The Music is a 501c3 nonprofit organization founded by Alicia Keys, Jody Gerson, Ann Mincieli, Sam Kirby Yoh and Dr. Stacy Smith with the mission to increase the number of women working in music – songwriters, engineers, producers, artists, and industry professionals.
ABOUT THE ORG
In January 2018, the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative released a study on the music industry revealing a six-year low for female creators in popular music. She Is The Music was formed to actively close this gap by increasing opportunity and visibility for women currently working in music, as well as developing the next generation of women to join the industry and seek leadership roles. As an umbrella nonprofit, we also provide resources and support for female-focused initiatives that are working to create meaningful change. She Is The Music focuses on three key areas of impact, our global all-female songwriting camps, with each camp hosted around an established artist, the industry’s largest and most ‘official’ database for women working in music, and mentorship and education programs.
