About Deb
What a pleasure to meet you!
Thanks kindly for taking the time to read a bit about ourselves and the tour. My name is Deborah Drummond and I was born in the beautiful city of Vancouver, Canada.
I have been in love with music as far back as I can remember. I was raised on country music watching the Glen Campbell show in my PJs on Saturday nights! Later on, in my teens, I would dance to my mom’s albums; especially the Beatles ‘White Album’. Music was a part of my life as a child; playing instruments and singing, and still is today in such a big way.
I am the mom to two fabulous children, Chloae and Ocean, and a Ya Ya to the beautiful Brynnlee, and her gorgeous little baby brother, Kashton. I have been an entrepreneur for over 30 years and absolutely love the creative process of building a business.
I have been an advocate for health and wellness way before it was cool, and have been known as a “Professional Hippy” most of my life. I am passionate about supporting causes that are dear to my heart. Community, music, and friendships are definitely among the top of those causes, and this journey we’re about to go on fills all those buckets.
About Corinne
For those of you who do not know me; I am a mother of one very amazing daughter, an animal lover, a do-it-yourself-er, a crafter/baker/canner, a believer in taking care of and giving back to others, a lover of life and all its mysteries. I am a bit of a risk-taker and a spontaneous spirit as well; so when Deb mentioned this incredible walking journey she wanted to do, I immediately said I would do it with her.
I have played sports all my life, volunteered with many different organizations, given to my community through my career as a police officer … and this journey would wrap all those loves up into one big experience that will, when completed, benefit others. It takes a village! Deb and I are going to be completing the physical portion of the journey, but the village; everyone one of you behind us, is what will get us through. Together, we will have a positive impact on others and isn’t that what life is about?
The Project Itself
I’m sure you’ve got to be wondering, “what the heck?”! How does someone even think up the idea to walk 8.5 marathons in a row? Where did that come from?
Well, truth be told, I was walking across the Burrard Street Bridge on a nice, warm, and sunny afternoon to go meet my gal pal for a walk together like we did every Thursday.
It wasn’t any different than the weeks before or what have been the weeks after. I was walking along feeling good, listening to groovy music in my earbuds and, all of a sudden, I heard, clear as a bell, “It’s Time”.
It was this inside voice that was so loud I felt like someone had yelled it in my ear and I knew in my gut I was supposed to do a marathon and donate the money to a charity. Now, I had done a marathon before, but it had been 17 years prior. Therefore, I can’t say I was even thinking those kinds of thoughts at all before that day.
And, truth be told, I was not in shape at that time to even think I could do one Marathon, never mind 8.5!
But that’s where it started….
A few weeks later my adventurous and incredible gal pal Corinne was driving me back from a lovely visit at my daughter’s. I was talking about the idea of this charity walk taking place across Ireland and she’s like, “I am in!” Just like that, in that moment it all felt right, one thing led to another, and here we are!
Both myself and Corinne are community-based women that believe in taking risks, making life fun, doing what we can to make our communities a better place to be, challenging ourselves to be the best versions of ourselves, and we both absolutely love and believe in the power of music.
Music means so many things to so many people. It’s a powerful energy that is created and has the power to bring people together. It’s an incredible common denominator for peace.
We hope to support with great enthusiasm and financial support the music industry and the people that are a part of it with the They Did It Tour!! We are excited to have you on this journey with us. We appreciate your enthusiasm
and support.
