It is less than a year away that Corinne and I will be walking approximately 8 marathons across Ireland. We have been spending time physically and mentally preparing for our journey. One main component of our preparation has been strength training.
Below are a list of benefits of strength training
- boosts mental health by increasing endorphins (feel good chemicals), dopamine (motivation), and serotonin (happiness)
- lowers stress
- regulates sleep cycles
- promotes longer health span (quality of life)
- improves cardiovascular system
- increases muscle mass, resulting in fat loss
If you don’t already, I would highly recommend giving strength training a try. This can be as simple as body weight exercises (squats, lunges etc).
